This week we did more bible distribution, finishing delivering bibles to four different towns. A couple of the houses were hard to get to. One, which Raegan, JP and another Local girl visited, required them to follow a cow trail on a journey through the jungle, across two streams, and up a steep hill to a gate standing by itself in the middle of nowhere without any fence to go with it. They found the little run down shack bit further on and were able to pray for and give a Bible to the man who lived there all alone. Another house we hiked a long ways to reach was only a ten minute walk away from the boarder of Nicaragua.
Wednesday we scrubbed the outside of the bright teal church building until our arms were sore and we were soaked with soapy water. For however little of a difference it seemed to make the church look I think it certainly built team spirit
Thursday night we were invited to the pastors house for dinner where we chatted, told jokes, and ate fried fish with rice and homemade plantain chips. And afterwards the pastors brother who was visiting, brought out his accordion and a guitar and we all had a grand ol’ time playing music and singing together.
Friday was all day preparation for the youth event! Over thirty kids showed up from all over Piedras Azules and neighboring towns, ranging from ages 8 to 28! We played freeze tag in the dark and then lead worship and gave teachings around the campfire. We had a prayer time at the end and then hung out and roasted marshmallows till it was time for everyone to go home.
Today was our rest day so we all took it easy. Some of us journaled and red and called home and Fred delivered our first Proclaimer 3000 hand cranked audio Bible to one of the neighbors.
Prayer requests:
- JPs health!
- Our travel to Cypress on Monday
- For Everyone who we gave Bibles to to get curious and actually begin reading them leading to revival in this place. Also for the youth; just generally for all the seeds of the gospel we’ve planted here to grow.
- That we as a team would encourage and build one another up in love.
